Beauty and the Beast

movie posterI recently went and saw the new Beauty and the Beast movie. There are not enough words to describe how good this movie is.

Title: Beauty and the Beast

Release Date: March 17, 2017

Rating: 10/10

Overview/plot: Belle takes her fathers place when he is taken prisoner by a beast that lives in a castle. Putting her fears to rest she befriends all the enchanted staff members in the castle and eventually looks beyond the fact the Beast is a beast.

My thoughts: Beauty and the Beast is by far my favorite Disney movie and I was a little skeptical at first when I found out about the remake of such a good animated movie. I have to say this is a very well done remake. It stayed true to the original movie but also had just enough new additions to make it different. They picked the perfect person to play Belle, but I do think they could have choose a better person to play the Beast. Overall Disney did a fantastic job.

Books:

  1. Beauty and the Beast By: Gabrielle- Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve (1740)
  2. Beauty and the Beast novelization By: Disney (2017)
  3. Beauty and the Beast: lost in a book By: Jennifer Donnelly (2017)

I have read the Disney novelization book and the Jennifer Donnelly book is currently on my book shelf waiting to be read. I would love to read the original book to see how well it follows the first Beauty and the Beast animated movie released in 1991.

This movie was really good and I will be buying it when it comes out on DVD. I am a huge Beauty and the Beast fan and have been long waiting to see this movie.

Thanks for reading and as always I would love comments, ideas, and suggestions. I have been throwing the idea around of doing an interview with someone and posting a blog about it but not sure exactly what I want to do so if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

The Magicians

thAs much as I love movies and books I also love a good TV show. I’ve watched hours upon hours of Netflix since I tend to pick shows that have a healthy number of season (5 or more). This TV show review is a show I would not have pick on my own but it turned out to be totally awesome.

Show: The Magicians

Rating: 5/5

Show overview: Follow Quentin Coldwater as he learns the magic he read about as a kid is not just fiction. He attends a secret university (for magicians) called Brakebills where he and his new “friends” discover that the magical world from their favorite childhood books is very real. The dark magic they find poses a danger not only to the magical world but also to the non magical world they also live in.

My awesome friend Scott told me about this show. I will admit I was a bit skeptical at first but then one night my mom talked me into watching the first episode. After watching episode one I was totally hooked. I then proceeded to finish the season in one day. This show is the perfect mix between Harry Potter (college style) and Narnia. I normally don’t like fantasy but this show has me forever hooked. This show is based of a trilogy by Lev Grossman and I currently debating if I want to check into reading the books.

The Magicians is currently airing season two on SYFY. It plays Wednesday nights at 9/8c. Season one can be found on Netflix and I would highly recommend this show to all.

Thanks for reading as always. I would love any comments or suggestions.
