Beauty and the Beast

movie posterI recently went and saw the new Beauty and the Beast movie. There are not enough words to describe how good this movie is.

Title: Beauty and the Beast

Release Date: March 17, 2017

Rating: 10/10

Overview/plot: Belle takes her fathers place when he is taken prisoner by a beast that lives in a castle. Putting her fears to rest she befriends all the enchanted staff members in the castle and eventually looks beyond the fact the Beast is a beast.

My thoughts: Beauty and the Beast is by far my favorite Disney movie and I was a little skeptical at first when I found out about the remake of such a good animated movie. I have to say this is a very well done remake. It stayed true to the original movie but also had just enough new additions to make it different. They picked the perfect person to play Belle, but I do think they could have choose a better person to play the Beast. Overall Disney did a fantastic job.

Books:

  1. Beauty and the Beast By: Gabrielle- Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve (1740)
  2. Beauty and the Beast novelization By: Disney (2017)
  3. Beauty and the Beast: lost in a book By: Jennifer Donnelly (2017)

I have read the Disney novelization book and the Jennifer Donnelly book is currently on my book shelf waiting to be read. I would love to read the original book to see how well it follows the first Beauty and the Beast animated movie released in 1991.

This movie was really good and I will be buying it when it comes out on DVD. I am a huge Beauty and the Beast fan and have been long waiting to see this movie.

Thanks for reading and as always I would love comments, ideas, and suggestions. I have been throwing the idea around of doing an interview with someone and posting a blog about it but not sure exactly what I want to do so if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Hacksaw Ridge

poster01Title: Hacksaw Ridge

Release Date: November 2, 2016

Rating: 8/10

Overview/plot: Follow Desmond T. Doss as he joins the Military as a conscientious Objector during World War 2. In Okinawa (the bloodiest battle of WW2) he never fired a shot and saved 75 men. He was the first conscientious objector to ever get the congressional medal of honor.

My thoughts: Being a history buff I loved that this is based off a true story, and I think Mel Gibson did a great job directing it. I am blown away by Andrew Garfield and Vince Vaughn in this movie. It is hard for me to see Andrew Garfield as this character because my favorite movie of his is Spider Man and Vince Vaughn playing in a war movie was difficult also. Both actors did a great job in their roles. It was very gory which I think portrayed this battle very well. My only problem with this movie is that I have noticed that it is not totally accurate. I think that is because Doss died in 2006 before this was going to be made into a movie. Other then that I think this was fantastic and I could watch it over and over again and feel the same way.

My favorite Quotes: There are two quotes that really stuck with me after watching this movie.

  1. “their animals” (this is in reference to the Japanese as the second wave of men gear up to go to Hacksaw Ridge)
  2. “please lord help me get one more” (this is what Doss was telling himself while he was on the ridge alone saving people)

Thanks for reading my movie review. I would love comments and suggestions (movies, books, tv shows, topics) as always.
