Things I can’t live without

Image result for 8 things i can't live without

The list was surprisingly hard to come up with. It took me longer then I thought to come up with the things. When I started I wanted to come up with 10 things but found that was very hard for me to do and had to settle with 8 things.

  1. Books: I absolutely love to read and a world without books is a world I do not want to be in.
  2. A journal: I need something to write on because I always have thoughts, feelings, or ideas I need to right down.
  3. Dr. Pepper: Hi my name is Kelsey and I am an addict. I have been told that Dr. Pepper runs through my veins.
  4. Netflix: I enjoy a good binge watching session.
  5. Cellphone: I hate to admit it but not having a cellphone would be veryyyy hard.
  6. Chap stick: No matter the time of year I always have like 20 tubes of chap-stick around my house because my lips are always chapped.
  7. Sticky Notes: I am probably the most forgetful person and I use a lot of sticky notes to remind myself to do just about everything.
  8. My parents: My parents are my best friends and we do just about everything together.

These are in no particular order because I love all 8 of these things so much.

Thanks for reading and I would love comments, suggestions, and any ideas to help me make my blog better.

Beauty and the Beast

movie posterI recently went and saw the new Beauty and the Beast movie. There are not enough words to describe how good this movie is.

Title: Beauty and the Beast

Release Date: March 17, 2017

Rating: 10/10

Overview/plot: Belle takes her fathers place when he is taken prisoner by a beast that lives in a castle. Putting her fears to rest she befriends all the enchanted staff members in the castle and eventually looks beyond the fact the Beast is a beast.

My thoughts: Beauty and the Beast is by far my favorite Disney movie and I was a little skeptical at first when I found out about the remake of such a good animated movie. I have to say this is a very well done remake. It stayed true to the original movie but also had just enough new additions to make it different. They picked the perfect person to play Belle, but I do think they could have choose a better person to play the Beast. Overall Disney did a fantastic job.

  1. Beauty and the Beast By: Gabrielle- Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve (1740)
  2. Beauty and the Beast novelization By: Disney (2017)
  3. Beauty and the Beast: lost in a book By: Jennifer Donnelly (2017)

I have read the Disney novelization book and the Jennifer Donnelly book is currently on my book shelf waiting to be read. I would love to read the original book to see how well it follows the first Beauty and the Beast animated movie released in 1991.

This movie was really good and I will be buying it when it comes out on DVD. I am a huge Beauty and the Beast fan and have been long waiting to see this movie.

Thanks for reading and as always I would love comments, ideas, and suggestions. I have been throwing the idea around of doing an interview with someone and posting a blog about it but not sure exactly what I want to do so if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Hacksaw Ridge

poster01Title: Hacksaw Ridge

Release Date: November 2, 2016

Rating: 8/10

Overview/plot: Follow Desmond T. Doss as he joins the Military as a conscientious Objector during World War 2. In Okinawa (the bloodiest battle of WW2) he never fired a shot and saved 75 men. He was the first conscientious objector to ever get the congressional medal of honor.

My thoughts: Being a history buff I loved that this is based off a true story, and I think Mel Gibson did a great job directing it. I am blown away by Andrew Garfield and Vince Vaughn in this movie. It is hard for me to see Andrew Garfield as this character because my favorite movie of his is Spider Man and Vince Vaughn playing in a war movie was difficult also. Both actors did a great job in their roles. It was very gory which I think portrayed this battle very well. My only problem with this movie is that I have noticed that it is not totally accurate. I think that is because Doss died in 2006 before this was going to be made into a movie. Other then that I think this was fantastic and I could watch it over and over again and feel the same way.

My favorite Quotes: There are two quotes that really stuck with me after watching this movie.

  1. “their animals” (this is in reference to the Japanese as the second wave of men gear up to go to Hacksaw Ridge)
  2. “please lord help me get one more” (this is what Doss was telling himself while he was on the ridge alone saving people)

Thanks for reading my movie review. I would love comments and suggestions (movies, books, tv shows, topics) as always.

The Magicians

thAs much as I love movies and books I also love a good TV show. I’ve watched hours upon hours of Netflix since I tend to pick shows that have a healthy number of season (5 or more). This TV show review is a show I would not have pick on my own but it turned out to be totally awesome.

Show: The Magicians

Rating: 5/5

Show overview: Follow Quentin Coldwater as he learns the magic he read about as a kid is not just fiction. He attends a secret university (for magicians) called Brakebills where he and his new “friends” discover that the magical world from their favorite childhood books is very real. The dark magic they find poses a danger not only to the magical world but also to the non magical world they also live in.

My awesome friend Scott told me about this show. I will admit I was a bit skeptical at first but then one night my mom talked me into watching the first episode. After watching episode one I was totally hooked. I then proceeded to finish the season in one day. This show is the perfect mix between Harry Potter (college style) and Narnia. I normally don’t like fantasy but this show has me forever hooked. This show is based of a trilogy by Lev Grossman and I currently debating if I want to check into reading the books.

The Magicians is currently airing season two on SYFY. It plays Wednesday nights at 9/8c. Season one can be found on Netflix and I would highly recommend this show to all.

Thanks for reading as always. I would love any comments or suggestions.
