Hello those of the 21st century. I am here to inform you that there is such a thing as TOO MUCH TECHNOLOGY. Like woah crazy, right? Saying this seems kind of weird for me since I own an IPhone, apple watch, laptop, and an IPad. But without out a doubt I still think our society is becoming way to dependent on technology. 12 year olds have smart phones, 7 year olds have tablets, and adults have everything under the sun.

All too often I see kids missing out on time with loved ones, I see parents miss out on important mile stones in their kids lives, and I see people die from texting and driving. There are so many other things kids and adults could be doing that does not involve technology. Choose how you spend your time and choose wisely.

Adults just like kids need to step away from technology and do the hands on activities with their kids, get house work done, or even read a book. This constant need for the next new thing is getting way out of hand. Family dinner should be about spending time and talking with family not sitting at the table with your nose shoved into your IPhone or IPad. Adults are just as bad if not worse then children when it comes to technology.

Technology is a wonderful and has done some pretty amazing things, but it is ruining our since of communication and how we act around others. There is a time and place for technology and that time is NOT all the time. Spend time with your family, go outside, read a new book, or simply clean the house.

Adults need monitored just as much as children do when it comes to technology. I am not saying technology is bad or that we should not have it, I am just simply saying that we as humans rely too heavily on it. I personally feel kids should only be allowed 1 hour a night spent on technology, the other time should be spent reading, coloring, building, or playing a board game. Adults need to learn to just simply put it away, there is house work to be done or you have kids you could be playing with. Time spent on technology is wasted time. Limit yourself and you will be much happier.

We live in a forever evolving world and I love that but we waste too much of our time looking a computer, phone, or tablet screen. Our time could and should be better spent. So my challenge for all my readers is to limit the amount of time you spend on technology. Give yourself an hour or two a night and that is it.

Thanks for reading as always. I am always open to comments and suggestions.

Oh the places you will go

bilboIn my book life is one big giant adventure, and what we do during that adventure defines who we are. I urge every person college student or not to travel while you can. I love to travel even it is only a few hours away I get so excited, kind of like a little kid on Christmas. I have been to a large portion of our 50 states, Washington D.C, Spain, Portugal, France, and a couple other places over seas. Traveling is something that I have a passion for, and I plan to keep that passion alive.

Here is some advice I have for people that want to travel or have been wanting to see what our wonderful world has to offer:

1. It does not matter where you go just make it happen. You could be going just one state over or be flying half way across the world but MAKE IT HAPPEN. Take weekends, holiday breaks, spring and summer break and travel. For a while stop buying things you don’t need, save a little, and travel. There are even trips that you can set up a payment plan for.  It will always be worth it to say that you got to see the Eiffel Tower lit up at night, or the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

2. Take a million pictures. Doesn’t matter where you go but always take pictures. It is so much easier to explain what something is, or what happen when you have a picture to go with it. Pictures really are worth a thousand words. Taking pictures will help you remember a time line of your vacation and will capture the beauty of the places you went. And will be something you cherish for the rest of your life.

3. Along with taking pictures, journal everything. Your feelings, where you went, what you saw, what you ate, how you got there, and every other little detail you want to remember. This is awesome because it is a physical keep sake that you will have forever. Every trip needs to be remembered and it needs to be remembered well. And doing this is not only for your sake, but those around you too.

4. Don’t be afraid to try new foods. I cannot stress this enough. You may never get the chance to travel to some of these places ever again. The food there is authentic, so step out on a limb and try it. And this coming from a very picky eater just ask my mom or boyfriend they can tell ya. I will never forget the time I tried authentic couscous with lamb meat in Morocco because, my mom had been trying to get me to eat couscous for a while and I refused to try it. Everybody loves food so try what other places have to offer.

5. My final tip is to not miss out on something because you are tried. If you do an organized trip there is always going to be down time, or free time. Do not spend that time sitting around on your phone or sleeping. Go explore, find your own adventures, meet native people, or simply just walk around and take it all in. If you are going to be paying the money to go on a trip do everything you can do and see all that you can see.

Traveling is so important and helps us better understand our world and the many cultures we have. There are so many beautiful places to see, and amazing people to meet. So take a little time, and a little money and go on an adventure. Currently on my calendar I have a trip to New York City over spring break, a trip to Florida in the summer, and want to book a trip to London. I am making it happen.

So stay tuned for post about my upcoming trips.

Thanks for reading as always.

Stu[dying] Tips

Hear ye, hear ye. Calling all college students. I know the spring semester feels like it  just started, but the time has come for the first exam of the semester. With that being said study tips are a must have. So here are some things I do to help me prepare:

FLASHCARDS: Making flashcards is an awesome tool and you can even make your own with copy paper you snag from campus(; But the art of using flashcards is awesome because it makes you rewrite items you need to know, they are more portable for studying on the go, and they are easier to test yourself with.

HIGHLIGHT & COLOR CODE: Make your page look like a rainbow. Using different bright colors helps your brain remember what was on the page.

REWRITE/TYPE NOTES: This helps because you see the information and study without feeling like your studying. Also this will help you add any extra notes, explain things better, and make your notes look better.

QUIET STUDY AREA: This is a big crucial part of studying. We all know it is hard to get anything done when the TV is on in the background so, now imagine trying to study with the TV on. So study with no distractions and yes that means no cell phones too, get comfy so you don’t try and find a distraction, and take short breaks in between to give your brain time to rest and to soak in the information.

STUDY DAILY DO NOT CRAM: The best method is to study a little bit at a time and not all at once. I know college kids are known for all night study cram sessions but that is not an effective study method. Doing a small amount everyday will help you remember important information better and be ready for the test so, the night before you can get a good nights sleep and be well rested.

I hope these study tips are helpful and I wish all college students reading this the best of luck on all exams. If you have any study tips that you use please leave a comment and let me know what you got.

Thanks for reading as always.
